ABOUT Laurel

Laurel is a Los Angeles based photographer focusing on a high contrast noir style.

At the age of 12 her mother gifted her a Canon AE-1 film camera, and that is the same camera she uses today. Growing up shy and nomadic, Laurel was often the wallflower just passing through. This helped in developing her personal artistic style and view of the world.

Laurel went on to University to major in Anthropology with a minor in Dark Room Photography. With her already developed wallflower perspective, her pursuits in human and cultural studies further developed her ability to recognize moments worth capturing.

Laurel’s primary goal when capturing a moment is to preserve in time a moment of liminality- the times of transition, change, and the in between. She is fascinated with the moments that make each living thing uniquely itself- be it plant, animal, human, etc.
